Vishay introduces a new automotive grade power metal plate galvanometer

Vishay Intertechnology, inc. has announced new automotive grade power metal plate current resistors with external dimensions 2010 and 2512 and rated power 2W and 3W.This new WFM resistor is designed for current and pulse detection applications in power supply, instrument, power amplifier, voltage divider, power inverter, and battery management circuits.By increasing power density, WFM also saves circuit board space, allowing it to offer smaller, lighter products to end consumers.

The unique structure of the WFM device improves the thermal management design with a copper radiator, giving the 2010 and 2512 package sizes of 2W and 3W resistors superior electrical characteristics of the power metal plate structure.The unique processing technology to realize Ω 5 m to 500 m Ω low resistance, low tolerance to + / - 1.0%.

The latest device is suitable for automobile electronic control, brushless dc motor control, electric and hybrid electric vehicle battery management, industrial application of high-power inverter/converter control and large motor drive, downhole instrument power supply, inverter control, consumer electronics and hvac system servers and other computing applications in power management, transformation, and security and other kinds of galvanometer and the pulse application.

Resistance using low TCR(< 20 PPM /°C) solid metal manganese copper or ni-cr resistance core, inductance value 0.5 nH to 5 nH, thermal EMF less than < 3 V/°C, operating temperature -65 °C to +170 °C.The device meets RoHS and Vishay green standard, halogen free.

WFM resistors are available now and have been in mass production with bulk order cycle of six to eight weeks.
